Support for patients

Referral wait times

My Planned Care gives you advice and support while you wait and helps you to prepare for your hospital consultation, treatment, or surgery. This includes giving you information about waiting times at your hospital and other supporting and local services while you wait. Your hospital team will be in touch with you as soon as they can.

Food banks

If you are struggling to feed yourself and members of your household, help is available within the community from Blackpool Food Bank. With the rising costs of living and the increase in energy costs, people across our communities face an uncertain future. Blackpool Food Bank is determined to support those who need it most.

Digital Support Service

Age UK Lancashire have a service available for older people with long-term conditions to help self-manage through digital channels, such as the NHS App. They provide personal, virtual and group sessions to help people get online and understand technology changes which can benefit your health at your own pace, for free!

Mental health support

We understand mental health is a serious condition that can affect anyone, and we try our best to ensure all of our patients can get the right support when they need it most. If you are struggling with your mental health, please see your GP. You may also benefit from local support services available to you.

Stop smoking

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals offers a community stop smoking service, allowing patients in our catchment area to get up to 12-weeks free support and medications. Stopping smoking can be hard, but you are significantly more likely to stop smoking with professional support. This a service patients can self-refer to.

Rideability

The Blackpool Council offers a door-to-door transport service for vulnerable patients who struggle to use public transport. Their wheelchair accessible minibus can take patients to and from their medical appointments (if eligible) within Blackpool, as well as providing regular shopping trips and days out further afield.
