Non-urgent advice: Wasted appointments

In October 2024, we made 11452 appointments available to patients. 5842 of these appointments were in-person.

Sadly, 464 of these in-person appointments were unattended.

Unfortunately, these wasted appointments means patients who need to be seen may struggle to do so. Wasted appointments also increase the overall wait times for patients to be seen.

Every year, approximately £216,000,000 is wasted within the NHS on appointments for patients who failed to show up, on top of the disruption for staff and fellow patients. You can read more on the damaging effects that wasted appointments have on the NHS by clicking here.
